OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Adopts pivotal Resolution fostering Longevity Medicine

In a significant step forward for the advancement of longevity medicine and demographic sustainability, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, encompassing 57 participating countries, has voted to adopt a resolution that underscores the importance of longevity-oriented policies and demographic considerations. The Aeon Foundation has been instrumental in this achievement.

The inclusion of longevity medicine in the resolution highlights the growing recognition of its importance as a global megatrend. Targeting international organizations such as the OSCE is vital for fostering widespread acceptance and implementation of policies that support longevity. Such initiatives are crucial to address the challenges posed by aging populations and to ensure sustainable development across member states.

In this specific case, we have supported a broad spectrum of relevant topics for longevity med and its societal impact. Among the several global issues, the resolution passed by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Bucharest today calls on parliaments of OSCE participating States to:

  1. Promote welfare policies and public investments that are longevity-oriented.
  2. Reform public healthcare systems to accommodate longevity-enhancing measures.
3.Prioritize research, investment, and accessibility of longevity-enhancing technologies and treatments.
4.Foster age-inclusive labor markets and businesses
    5.Achieve resilient pension systems.

Furthermore, the resolution has also dedicated a paragraph to stress the importance of demography in the OSCE area.

The annual meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Bucharest provided the perfect setting for this resolution to be adopted, with parliamentary delegations from across the 57 participating states in attendance. This context underscores the collective commitment of the OSCE member countries to address the pressing issues related to aging populations and demographic shifts.

The team of the Aeon Foundation extends its gratitude to the OSCE Economic Committee and especially its rapporteur Mrs.Gudrun for their dedicated efforts in achieving this objective. Their support has been invaluable in advancing the cause of longevity medicine and demography within the OSCE framework.
